2019 Field Hockey Award Winners

Week Nine - Nov. 5

Offensive Player of the Week
Nov. 5 – Brady Keeler, Newberry 
Keeler, a senior Bridgeville, Del., led the Wolves to a 2-0 record last week and became Newberry's all-time leading scorer in the process. She scored two goals and had an assist in Newberry's 3-2 win over Queens and added another goal in the Wolves' 2-0 win over Belmont Abbey. Keeler notched her record setting goal in the game against Queens and now has scored more than 30 goals in her career. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Nov. 5 – Daisy Ruhle, Limestone
Ruhle, a freshman from Marlow, England, led the Saints to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Coker and Pace. She allowed just two goals over the two game span, making 10 saves with a .833 save percentage. Limestone's 4-0 win against Coker gave Ruhle her fifth shutouts for the year, placing her in a tie for the league lead in shutouts.


Week Eight - Oct. 30 

Offensive Player of the Week
Oct. 30 – Alyssa Baronella-O’Toole, Coker
Baronella-O’Toole, a senior from Severn, Md., led the Cobras to a 2-1 record last week with wins over Belmont Abbey and Bellarmine. She scored two goals on the week for four points, including the game-winner in overtime against Bellarmine. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Oct. 30 – Kelsey Gibbons, Coker
Gibbons, a sophomore from Cortland, N.Y., had a fantastic week in the goal for the Cobras. She had a 1.80 goals against average over three games, while making 21 saves. She had a 6-0 shutout victory against Belmont Abbey and then made 13 saves in a 3-2 overtime win against Bellarmine. 


Week Seven - Oct. 23

Offensive Player of the Week
Oct. 23 – Britt Kabo, Coker
Kabo, a freshman from Marrssen, Netherlands, led the Cobras to a pair of wins last week. She scored goal and had an assist in their 7-1 win over Mount Olive and scored a goal with two assists in a 4-1 victory over Converse. She finished the week with seven points on two goals and three assists.

Defensive Player of the Week
Oct. 23 – Avian Thompson, Queens
Thompson, a sophomore from Hummelstown, Pa., earned pair of shutout victories for the Royals last week, as they defeated Frostburg State 4-0 and Limestone 1-0. Against Frostburg, Thompson recorded a single save in the win, while she made six saves in the Limestone win. For the week she had seven saves and did not allow a single goal in 120 minutes of action in the net.


Week Six - Oct. 16

Offensive Player of the Week
Oct. 16 – Brady Keeler, Newberry
Keeler, a senior forward from Bridgeville, Del., led the Wolves to a 2-0 record last week; including a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Limestone. She scored three goals and had an assist in Newberry’s 6-2 win over Mount Olive, and then scored the game-winner in overtime to defeat Limestone 2-1. For the week Keeler had nine points on four goals and an assist. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Oct. 15 – Daisy Ruhle, Limestone
Ruhle, a freshman goalie from Marlow, England, led the Saints to a 1-1 record, including a 3-0 shutout over Belmont Abbey. She recorded one save and did not allow a goal against the Crusaders and then made seven saves, surrendering just two goals in Limestone’s 2-1 overtime loss to Newberry. For the week she had a .800 save percentage and allowing just 0.97 goals per game with eight saves. 


Week Five - Oct. 9

Offensive Player of the Week
Oct. 9 – Maddie Mitchell, Belmont Abbey

Mitchell, a sophomore forward from Kitchener, Ontario, led the Crusaders to a 2-0 record last week with a 6-0 win over Converse and a 4-3 win over Newberry. She scored two goals and had an assist against Converse and added a goal and two more assists against Newberry. She finished the week with three goals and three assists for nine points. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Oct. 9 – Daisy Ruhle, Limestone

Ruhle, a freshman goalie from Marlow, England, surrendered just one goal in 125 minutes of action last week, while leading the Saints to a 2-0 record. She shutout Mount Olive 4-0 and allowed just one goal while making six saves in the Saints' 2-1 overtime win against Bloomsburg. For the week Ruhle had a .857 save percentage.


Week Four - Oct. 2

Offensive Player of the Week
Oct. 2 - Kristyna Oyola, Newberry

Oyola, a senior forward from Virginia Beach, Va., led the Wolves to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Mount Olive (6-0) and Converse (3-1). She scored a goal and had an assist versus Mount Olive and she added another goal against Converse. She finished the week with two goals and an assist for five points. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Oct. 2 - Alyssa Baronella-O’Toole, Coker

Baronella-O’Toole, a senior defender from Severn, Md., anchored the Coker backline as the Cobras went 1-1 on the week, including a thrilling 5-4 double-overtime win over Limestone. In addition to holding opponents to just 26 shots and seven goals for the week, Baronella-O’Toole netted the game-winner for the Cobras in their win over Limestone. 


Week Three - Sept. 26

Offensive Player of the Week
Sept. 25 – Hanna Nechay, Queens

Nechay, a senior forward from Hebron, Md., scored three goals and added an assist for seven points on the week. As a team, Royals went 2-0, including a 5-4 win over nationally ranked No. 10 Limestone. Nechay scored a pair of goals in a 7-1 win over Mount Olive, and added a goal and an assist in the Royals’ win over Limestone. Queens has extended its winning streak to three games, and the win over Limestone was the first in program history versus a ranked opponent. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Sept. 25 – Avian Thompson, Queens

Thompson, a sophomore goalkeeper from Hummelstown, Pa., led the Royals to a 2-0 record last week, including the program’s first-ever win over a ranked opponent, a 5-4 win over No. 10 Limestone. She made six saves over the two games, allowing four goals with a .600 save percentage. 


Week Two - Sept. 19

Offensive Player of the Week
Sept. 18 – Bizzy Baumeier, Belmont Abbey

Baumeier, a freshman forward from Oak Ridge, N.C., led the Crusaders to a 2-0 record last week with a 2-0 win over Queens and an 8-3 win over Coker. She scored five goals with an assist for 11 points for the week, all against Coker. Her five goals tied a program record for goals in a game and she scored the fastest hat-trick in Belmont Abbey history, scoring three goals in the first 11 minutes and 20 seconds of the game. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Sept. 18 – Paige Hinds, Belmont Abbey

Hinds, a senior goalkeeper from Culpepper, Va., posted a 2-0 record, including her fourth career shutout with a 2-0 win over Queens. In her two games in the goal, she made five total saves, four against Queens and one versus Coker, allowing just three goals for a 1.56 goals against average and a .625 save percentage. 


Week One - Sept. 12

Offensive Player of the Week
Sept. 11 – Kelly Diplock, Limestone

Diplock, a junior forward from Harare, Zimbabwe, provided the offensive spark for the Saints in their 3-2, double overtime win over Southern New Hampshire. Diplock had a hand in all three Limestone goals, providing the assist on the Saints' first goal of the game and then scoring the final two, including the game-winner in double overtime. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Sept. 11 – Avian Thompson, Queens

Thompson, a sophomore goalie from Hummelstown, Pa., led the Royals to a record of 1-1 to start the season. She recorded 11 saves on the week, including nine against nationally ranked No. 1 Shippensburg. She also picked up a shutout victory for Queens with two saves against Mercyhurst.
