Conference Carolinas Names 2018-19 Spring Scholar Athletes of the Year - Women's Outdoor Track & Field

High Point, N.C.Conference Carolinas is proud to announce the 2019 Spring Scholar Athletes of the Year, as voted on by the Student-Athlete Affairs Committee. This prestigious award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each sport for recognition of their outstanding performance both on the field and in the classroom.

Candidates are submitted by member institutions for each of the conference’s twenty-three sponsored sports. To be considered for the honor, the student-athlete must have been named Academic All-Conference, which entails having attended their member institution for at least one year and having reached junior or senior standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4-point scale. Scholar Athletes of the Year must also be represented on their sport’s First, Second, or Third All-Conference Team, the rosters of which are chosen by coaches at the end of each playing season.  This spring's class of honorees holds an impressive average GPA of 3.80.  
 
 
 
Women's Outdoor Track & Field Award Winner
Taylor Moncrief - University of Mount Olive

As a junior, Taylor Moncrief earned First-Team All-Conference honors in the high jump, Second-Team All-Conference in the triple jump, and Third-Team All-Conference in the long jump. A triple-threat on the track and a high-achiever in the classroom, the Jacksonville, N.C. native carried a 3.852 GPA as a psychology major. A 2019 Conference Carolinas Leadership forum participant, Moncrief was named to the Conference Carolinas Academic-All Conference team and Presidential Honor Roll. Also named Conference Carolinas Winter Scholar-Athlete earlier this year, Moncrief has been a key team member of the Conference Carolinas Indoor and Outdoor championship team.
