Conference Carolinas Names 2018-19 Spring Scholar Athletes of the Year - Women's Lacrosse

High Point, N.C.Conference Carolinas is proud to announce the 2019 Spring Scholar Athletes of the Year, as voted on by the Student-Athlete Affairs Committee. This prestigious award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each sport for recognition of their outstanding performance both on the field and in the classroom.

Candidates are submitted by member institutions for each of the conference’s twenty-three sponsored sports. To be considered for the honor, the student-athlete must have been named Academic All-Conference, which entails having attended their member institution for at least one year and having reached junior or senior standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4-point scale. Scholar Athletes of the Year must also be represented on their sport’s First, Second, or Third All-Conference Team, the rosters of which are chosen by coaches at the end of each playing season.  This spring's class of honorees holds an impressive average GPA of 3.80.  
 
 
 
Women's Lacrosse Award Winner
Sadie Michael - University of Mount Olive

Hailing from Sherwood Park, Canada, Sadie Michael wrapped up a stellar senior year on the University of Mount Olive's women's lacrosse team as the Defensive Player of the Year. Earning First Team All-Conference honors, Michael led the Trojans in caused turnovers per game (2.68) to be ranked second in the conference and sixth in Division II. With 63 ground balls, Michael also ranked second in the league in that category. A member of the Conference Carolinas tournament runner-up team, Michael achieved excellence both on the field and in the classroom this season. A biology major with a 3.343 GPA, Michael was named to the Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference team and Presidential Honor Roll.
