Conference Carolinas Names 2018-19 Spring Scholar Athletes of the Year - Men's Outdoor Track & Field

High Point, N.C.Conference Carolinas is proud to announce the 2019 Spring Scholar Athletes of the Year, as voted on by the Student-Athlete Affairs Committee. This prestigious award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each sport for recognition of their outstanding performance both on the field and in the classroom.

Candidates are submitted by member institutions for each of the conference’s twenty-three sponsored sports. To be considered for the honor, the student-athlete must have been named Academic All-Conference, which entails having attended their member institution for at least one year and having reached junior or senior standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4-point scale. Scholar Athletes of the Year must also be represented on their sport’s First, Second, or Third All-Conference Team, the rosters of which are chosen by coaches at the end of each playing season.  This spring's class of honorees holds an impressive average GPA of 3.80.  
 
 
 
Men's Outdoor Track & Field Award Winner
Zach Teeple - University of Mount Olive

Haling from Stafford, Va., Zach Teeple, finished up his senior year with several noteworthy accomplishments on the track and in the classroom. Throwing an NCAA Provisional qualifiying mark to set a new Conference record and school record in the javelin with a mark of 66.29m (217' 6"), Teeple earned First Team All-Conference honors. Ranked eighth in Division II in the javelin, Teeple proved to be a key competitor for the Trojans, winning both indoor and outdoor Conference Carolinas team titles this year. Also a high-achiever in his academics, Teeple held a 3.568 GPA as an exercise science major, earning Academic-All Conference honors and was named to the Presidential honor roll for both indoor and outdoor.
