Conference Carolinas Names 2018-19 Spring Scholar Athletes of the Year - Men's Lacrosse

High Point, N.C.Conference Carolinas is proud to announce the 2019 Spring Scholar Athletes of the Year, as voted on by the Student-Athlete Affairs Committee. This prestigious award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each sport for recognition of their outstanding performance both on the field and in the classroom.

Candidates are submitted by member institutions for each of the conference’s twenty-three sponsored sports. To be considered for the honor, the student-athlete must have been named Academic All-Conference, which entails having attended their member institution for at least one year and having reached junior or senior standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4-point scale. Scholar Athletes of the Year must also be represented on their sport’s First, Second, or Third All-Conference Team, the rosters of which are chosen by coaches at the end of each playing season.  This spring's class of honorees holds an impressive average GPA of 3.80.  
 
 
 
Men's Lacrosse Award Winner
Austin Dixon - North Greenville University

Team captain for the Crusaders' men's lacrosse team, Austin Dixon earned Second-Team All-Conference honors as a junior this season. With 32 goals, 13 assists, 27 ground balls, and 41% shooting, the Simpsonville, S.C. native was a key team player on the field. Dixon also excelled in the classroom, carrying a 3.76 GPA as a health science major to earn Academic All-Conference honors this season. Demonstrating high levels of success both athletically and academically, Dixon has been named Conference Carolinas Spring Scholar Athlete of the Year for men's lacrosse.
